Cartoules is Greek for "Little Cards" and began in 2008 as a small design and letterpress shop.
It started when Julie Karatzis decided to design and letterpress her own wedding invitations. She was discouraged by how expensive letterpress invitations were, and because she married in Greece, it was important that they were bilingual. Realizing that couples needed more options when creating wedding invitations, especially when on a budget, Julie decided to set up shop.
All Cartoules are created utilizing photopolymer plates, or handset wooden and metal type on a Golding & Co. Pearl Press. Our 100% cotton stock paper is cut, scored, and folded by hand in-house. Each piece is designed and hand fed into the press creating a totally unique piece every time. Slight variations in color, registration and impression may occur, but that's the beauty of letterpress!
The true beauty of letterpress is best appreciated in person. Each sample set comes with an assortment of three of our invitation pieces. Should you choose to work with us, your sample purchase will go toward your final order.

Thank you coming up with great ideas and for being so sweet throughout the whole process. When the invites arrived we had already seen a photo of them and we loved that, but nothing prepared us for how perfect they are in real life...they look, smell and feel lovely!

Love LOVE my custom "toasty muffin" notecards!! Julie was super quick, creative and gave her honest feedback on a couple design ideas before we settled on the final design. I absolutely LOVE the baptism invitations! I am a very picky client and working with Cartoules was an amazing and smooth experience. For those unsure about letterpress invites, I have to say that you will be sold when you actually see them in person. The pictures can't do them justice. This work is literally 3-D! I will never go back to the traditional and boring invitations.
